National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader, Raila Odinga, left the country on Sunday to Tanzania where he met with current Tanzanian President, John Pombe Magufuli.

Raila and Magufuli met surreptitiously on Monday morning at a hotel in Zanzibar where he told him why he escaped from Kenya. According to Raila Odinga’s confidantes, he told Magufuli that he escaped from Kenya because the
Jubilee Government was planning to assassinate him during last Friday’s chaos in Nairobi.

Raila Odinga also begged Magufuli to provide him with his elite guards since National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers were also trailing him even into Tanzania.

Immediately after he said this, Magufuli ordered the Inspector General of Police in Tanzania to give Raila Odinga security until he jets out of the country.

Following Magufuli’s orders, six NIS officers were arrested in Zanzibar while trailing Raila Odinga. The six were five men and one woman.
